Greetings to the Weekend and a Moth Love Letter

I am trying to avoid writing something cheesy like...TGIF, or happy Friday or yaaaaay the weekend, but honestly I really feel that way after this week.

I was sick the beginning of the week and the rest of the week was a little off balance with everything else. Work has been out-of-control busy and yet I walk away at the end of the day wondering if I got anything done. (Ever feel that way? Because this new job feels that way...like...every..day. I still love it though.) I wonked up my right leg. I'm not sure how I did it but I do know it's killing me and not making my race training for my 5K coming up in March appealing or even feasible at this moment. My training partner/amazing friend Jenny ALSO hurt herself and is actually getting X-Rays for her injury. (Obviously...avoid training with us.) In my mind it has been a week worth whining about.

So Friday night finally made it to me and all I wanted was comfort food. (Panko breaded pork loin cutlets... smothered in smoked paprika sauce with rice.) A great soundtrack to cook to. (Drive-By Truckers, John Prine and Morphine) My coziest clothes. (Super sexy, over-sized flannel pj bottoms and a black fleece hoodie that makes me feel like a ninja when I have the hood on.) My glasses on, hair up, dog snuggled next to me and a movie that had Tarantino's hands all over it. One with great lines, crazy gun fights, an eggroll eating pimp and Clarence and Alabama. (True Romance) Oh.. and Cinnamon Lips for dessert. (I love February and the candy bulk bins.)

Much better.

I did want to let you know that a slew of yummy recipes are coming up including the comfort food I ate tonight and a really cozy, delicious lentil stew. I also will be posting this weekend my next dating tale, the 40 year old hipster who referred to himself as Jewpac.

In the meantime...I am going to leave you on this late Friday night with moths. I am completely fascinated with moths and really became so when I saw a piece of art that represented life and death with a butterfly and a moth. It was a really striking piece and sadly I do not have a link for you to view it, but it was really cool. Sorry you have to take my word for it.

I have always wanted to get some moth ink done and thought that I knew what I was going to get until I actually started doing some research on the little creatures. Suddenly a hunt for moths turned into an obsession after it became so clear that the moth kicks the butterfly's butt. I love the image of them flying at night to the light with their feathered antennas. They are lovely.
